By Your Side

Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don't turn away

Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching as if I'm not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run

And I'll be by your side
Wherever you fall
In the dead of night
Whenever you call
And please don't fight
These hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

This passage never gets old to me. Every time I read it I learn something new. If I fail at all else in this world and in this life, but can succeed at one thing, I want to be able to love like this. To all strangers and friends, to my family and my significant other, and to the one and only God above, who already masters this special kind of love and shows us everyday.

Today is my daddy's birthday!
Happy birthday to my loving papa

Perfection

Just a thought I was inspired to share :) When I want to remember what perfection is I look to God. The definition of perfection is something that satisfies all requirements, being completely accurate with nothing missing, no flaws or defects, it is beyond compare and has no equal. God is unchanging, loves unconditionally, he's just and always remains faithful in all and any circumstance. When we look to something greater, beyond our imperfectness, we see God who embodies what perfect is and what perfect should mean. It shouldn't be dictated by the outward appearances but of what is within.

Perfection has no numbers. It is not about your height, the width of your waist, your bust line, the symmetry of your face or any other insignificant feature. Beauty honestly comes in all shapes and sizes. People even have different opinions on what a perfect appearance is. The list is endless. It makes me sad when men and women then go out to get these "perfect" bodies. If there is not one set of characteristics that define a "perfect body" it simply shows there is no such thing.

Of course it is hard not to be sucked into the standards the world constantly places on people. But there is a greater truth that remains. I've learned to look to God whenever the world becomes too much and even when it's not. There comes a point when the things people say and expect shouldn't matter. If we are perfect in the eyes of a perfect God, what else, or who else, should matter? We are all beautiful to God and created exactly how he desired. So smile and shine on you beautiful people.
